Albany Branch
2026 SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is sponsored by the NAACP, Albany Branch. This award is available to an outstanding graduating high school senior* of African ancestry entering college with a major in medicine or a medical-related profession (Example: nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy) or another field of science.
"Applicants must be residents of Albany County and live in one of its designated municipalities (see the list below). Please note that students are eligible to apply if they reside in a designated municipality but attend school in a non-designated area."
SCHOLARSHIP PURPOSE:
The NAACP Albany Scholarship is a direct investment in the future of a Capital Region youth seeking educational achievement, advancement, and success. We believe that “The youth are our future” and “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.” This scholarship reflects the guiding principles of the NAACP to support the development of brilliant, skilled, talented, fearless leaders to step boldly into the world.
Up to three $2000 awards will be presented.
REQUIREMENTS:

Enrolled in an accredited High School or in an accredited program of higher education

Minimum GPA of at least 3.0 out of 4.0*

Must be a member of the Albany Branch of the NAACP. (www.naacpalbanyny.org) ; can join at the time of application

George Biddle Kelley Education Foundation
The George Biddle Kelley Education Foundation is the charitable arm of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beta Pi Lambda Chapter.
Available Scholarships: Applicants may apply for the General Scholarship and may be eligible for one of the additional specific awards:

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for this one-time scholarship award, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

Be a male from a traditionally underrepresented community in the Capital District

Be a current candidate for graduation from an accredited public or private high school in the Capital District

Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (or 83 average)

Have applied to, and/or been accepted into, a degree program at an accredited four-year college or university

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
Application for the 2026 Eric Duvall Scholarship
Scholarship Overview: The Eric Duvall Scholarship – offered by the Capital District Alumni Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. – was created to recognize underrepresented male college-bound individuals’ contributions in the areas of service to community, leadership, and academic achievement.
3 applicants will be awarded $1,000 each based on the comprehensive score of their respective applications.
• An application cover sheet signed by both the student and a parent or legal guardian
• Completed student activities/leadership/work experience document
• Completed 500-word typed essay (Please follow the included essay guidelines)
• Two (2) Letters of Recommendation (May not be from a relative)
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Official school transcript in a sealed envelope
• Proof of acceptance from a College/University and enrollment
• Please be sure to include your name on each page of the application

2026 NYSACAC SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
One-time scholarships, ranging from $500 - $1,000, are awarded each year in support of a student’s pursuit of their higher education.
Applications will be open April 1st through May 15th, 2026. Scholarship recipients will be notified by June 30th, 2026.
To be eligible for the NYSACAC Scholarship, nominated students must meet all of the following criteria:

Be nominated by a NYSACAC member, who will complete the nomination form.

Reside in New York State.
-
Have/Will Be:
-
Graduated from a New York State public or private secondary school/college; or
-
Completed a home-schooled program in New York State; or
-
Obtained a GED
-

Complete the 2026 NYSACAC Scholarship Essay: In 500 words or less, please illustrate how you have overcome barriers or succeeded with limited resources.

Enroll in or transfer to a college/university undergraduate program beginning in Fall 2026 at a NYSACAC member institution or institution within New York State. Scholarship recipients will be expected to provide proof of matriculation.
For NYSACAC members submitting the nomination form, you must:

The NYSACAC Scholarship is intended to first be applied toward tuition expenses. If tuition is fully covered by state, federal, or other funding, the NYSACAC Scholarship should be applied to fees not covered such as books, supplies, room and board, misc. expenses.
Julia Forman Honoree
Each year, one applicant who embodies the values of Julia Forman receives a NYSACAC scholarship in Julia’s name. There is no separate application to be considered for this honor.
Students are nominated by their counselor through the online application included above (will be available beginning April 1, 2026). Please note you must be a NYSACAC member to access the nomination form and for your student to be considered.

*** The website states the 2026 college scholarship program is open, however, on other pages, it shows a 2025 deadline. We have inquired but it would be beneficial to at least prepare a resume just in case. Based on research, they give about 30 days to submit the application once its "open". Last year it was announce July 1 was due July 25, 2026***
Eligibility:
The NYSABPRHAL College Scholarship Program is open to students from economically disadvantaged and low- to moderate-income families who are pursuing higher education at accredited colleges and universities in New York State. The Scholarship Selection Panel evaluates applicants based on a combination of:

Academic Merit — demonstrated excellence in the classroom and a commitment to continued achievement.

Financial Need — priority is given to students for whom scholarship support will make the most meaningful difference in their ability to attend and complete college.

Community Involvement — a demonstrated record of service, leadership, and engagement in their communities, reflecting the Association's belief that the strongest leaders are forged not only in the classroom but in service to others.
